Profile

A native of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Tammy Simien Moon practices Family, Probate and Child Welfare Law.  Having founded and managed The Simien Moon Law Firm P.C. and in practice for over 27 years, she focuses on all areas of the family, including custody and property issues associated with divorce, drafting and probating estate planning documents, probating heirship and administrations and custody issues in child welfare law cases. Tammy is board certified in the areas of Family Law and Child Welfare Law.  She is a respected mediator for Family Law cases. Tammy is a founding member of The Houston Family Law Group, which is a family law mentoring group for African American Female Attorneys in the Houston and surrounding counties.  Additionally, Tammy is a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.

Tammy has held a number of top-ranking positions in the field of family law, as she has chaired the Family Law Section of the Houston Bar Association, the Gulf Coast Family Law Specialists, and the Burta Rhoads Raborn Family Inn of Court. Tammy serves as a member of the Family Law Examination Committee for the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She is also a member of the board of directors for the Family Law Section of the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and a member of the Texas Bar Foundation. Additionally, Tammy serves on the Council for the State Bar of Texas Family Law Section. While practicing law is her passion, she has also served as an adjunct professor for Domestic Relations at Texas Southern University, Thurgood Marshall School of Law where she attended law school and served as Articles Editor on Law Review. Tammy lectures frequently at continuing legal seminars sponsored by the State Bar of Texas.   She is happily married to Leonard Moon and the proud mother of seven.

After maintaining a private, family law practice in Houston for 33 years, Patsy joined Schlanger Silver in 2007 as the first partner in the Family Law Section. Patsy has developed and grown the family law section into one of the most successful and well respected family law practices in Houston and the surrounding counties. Although well known for her litigation skills and successes in the courtroom, her goal is to reach economically reasonable and civil resolutions to litigation. In the fifteen years she has been with the firm, the family law section has grown to include eight lawyers who concentrate solely in the area of family law and four highly skilled paralegals.

Patsy was board certified in family law in 1979 and has authored and lectured statewide on multiple family law topics. She has served as the chairperson of the Family Law Section of the Houston Bar Association, President of the Association of Women Attorneys and a special master appointed by the family District Judges.

A native Texan, Sara earned her B.B.A. in Finance and the Business Honors program at the University of Texas at Austin in 2004. She immediately moved to Houston to attend South Texas College of Law. In 2007, Sara was the first recipient of the Pamela E. George Family Law Award given by South Texas College of Law.

Sara Valentine started her legal career working for Wendy Burgower as a law clerk in 2006 and became Wendy’s associate attorney in 2007. In 2014, Sara became Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Sara continued working with Wendy until joining Schlanger Silver in January 2020.

Sara’s compassion for individuals and families led her to practice family law.  She works diligently to understand her client’s goals, evaluate his or her circumstances, consider all options, and avidly advocate for her client.  Whether dealing with child related issues or financial issues, Sara’s knowledge, relatability, and drive create a comfortable, secure environment for her clients and aid her in gaining positive results in negotiations and in litigation.

Sara has held several positions within state and local family law organizations. She’s currently a council member of the State Bar of Texas, Family Law Section and has been serving as a council member since 2015.  Sara has been serving on the board of the Gulf Coast Family Law Specialists since 2017.  From 2010 to 2015, Sara served as a board member of the Houston Bar Association, Family Law Section. Sara has also served as a Team Leader in the Burta Rhoads Raborn Family Law Inn of Court.

In addition to her involvement in family law organizations, Sara contributes to the family law profession through publishing articles and presenting at various state and local family law conferences.

A native Houstonian, but educated in Boston (Tufts University) and New York (NYU Law School), Stefani returned to Houston in 1991 to clerk for U.S. District Judge David Hittner. Following that, she joined the family law section of a large downtown firm. From 1997 to 2003, she practiced with fellow partner Patsy Wicoff. Stefani joined Schlanger Silver in 2003 to start the firm’s Family Law practice and was joined by Patsy Wicoff in 2007.

Stefani works with individuals and focuses her practice exclusively on family law, mainly divorce. She also handles collaborative divorces, post-divorce litigation, pre- and post-nuptial agreements, paternity and related matters. Patrick has been dedicated to the practice of family law since his second and third years of law school when he interned for the 247th Family District Court of Harris County, Texas. After spending two years practicing family law in Dallas, Texas, Patrick moved back to Houston to be closer to his family and to focus his attention on serving the families of the Houston Metropolitan area in one of their greatest times of need. There are no “cookie-cutter” family law cases, as every client’s facts, needs, and circumstances require a unique plan. Jennifer first became interested in family law during her law school internships at Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse and the Texas Council for Family Violence. She was inspired by her work and felt that she was making a difference in people’s lives while serving to protect those in need. Jennifer will tell you that her favorite part of being a family law attorney is helping her clients get through one of the most difficult times in their lives.

After spending five years practicing family law in Austin, Jennifer returned to her hometown of Houston and joined Schlanger Silver in 2015. Jennifer has handled many complex family law matters and her approach is to resolve cases using the best strategies possible. Jennifer has significant experience negotiating, mediating, and, if needed, taking her cases to trial. Profile

A native Houstonian, Wendy Burgower comes to the firm with a long history of family law practice. Having founded and managed Burgower Law LLP for over 35 years, her practice focuses on complicated custody and property issues associated with divorce. Wendy is one of the most respected family law attorneys in the state, recognized by her peers nationwide.  Wendy is a founding member of the Burta Rhoads Raborn Family Inn of Court, which is the Houston mentoring section of the American Inn of Court. Additionally, Wendy is a fellow of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. In 2018, Wendy was admitted to the prestigious American College of Family Trial Lawyers, a national group of family law attorneys that limits its membership to the top 100 family law attorneys in the country.

Wendy has held a number of top ranking positions in the field of family law, as she has chaired the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, the Gulf Coast Family Law Specialists and the Burta Rhoads Raborn Family Inns of Court. While her passion remains family law, Wendy has served as the liaison of the large sections of the Texas Bar to the Board of Directors and as a trustee of the Texas Bar Foundation, where she was the Chair in 2021-2022. She has been recognized as a “Super Lawyer” by Thomsom Reuters, as listed in Texas Monthly from 2004 to date.

Wendy is an experienced litigator, known for her courtroom skills, as well as her ability to negotiate high net worth estates in a creative and advantageous manner for her clients.
